Dear Friends, Supporters, Allies and Donors,

We have three weeks left, and we need every voice we can get.

The Government’s consultation on NDA reform closes on 8th July, and right now, many of the people responding are mostly employers and their lawyers. Workers need to be heard. Freelancers, contractors, gig workers and volunteers need to be heard. And that means you.

🙌 Organise have done something brilliant

Our friends at Organise have taken the Government’s consultation and turned it into plain English: a short, clear, anonymous survey that takes just three minutes to complete. Every answer will be compiled into one response and submitted directly to the Department for Business and Trade before the deadline.

It is one of the most accessible ways to respond to the consultation we have seen, and we are delighted to be supported by them on this.

✍️ Take the survey now

Here’s the first question:

Do you think non-disclosure agreements should be banned?

👉 Yes, they should be banned

👉 No

📊 Here’s why this matters

Lawyers estimate NDAs appear in over 90% of civil settlements, including cases of sexual harassment and racial discrimination. And 1 in 4 young women say they wouldn’t report sexual harassment at work for fear of losing their job.

Agency workers, gig workers, freelancers and volunteers wouldn’t be covered at all under the current proposals - often the exact workers most vulnerable to being silenced. Whatever gets decided now will protect workers for decades, or legitimise the same silencing with a government stamp on it.

Here’s how we stop that: you answer the survey, thousands of us do the same, and every response gets compiled and submitted to the Department for Business and Trade before the consultation closes on 8th July.

It takes 3 minutes and it’s completely anonymous.

📝 P.S. Have you been made to sign an NDA yourself? The last question of the survey is a space to share your experience, completely anonymously. Your story could be the evidence that closes these loopholes for good.

We have one final push to make sure that workers are protected for good

With thanks,

Zelda
